Details of Arrest: On 01-28-12 a Clay County Deputy was on patrol in Fostoria
when he noticed a vehicle stopped at a stop sign on Highway Ave NW and Main St.
The vehicle did not have its headlights on and when the Deputy drove passed, he
noticed a white male who appeared to be asleep in the driver’s seat. The Deputy
made contact with the driver and identified him as Ryan Rohfeld. Rohfeld was
asked to perform several standardized field sobriety tests. Rohfeld was arrested
and taken to the Clay County Jail where he was charged with operating a vehicle
while intoxicated. Rohfled was held with out bond and was also cited for failure
to use headlamps when required.

violation at the intersection of Highway 18 and M-54. It was discovered the
driver, Jonathan Kreiss, had a suspended license. Kreiss was arrested and
transported to the Clay COunty Jail where he was charged with driving while
suspended. Kreiss was booked without incident.

Details of Arrest: On January 23, 2012, Carson Baethke was arrested for
interference with official acts, possession of alcohol under the legal age,
providing alcohol to a minor, and failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
Joshua Robert Bubke was arrested for interference with official acts and
possession of alcohol under the legal age. Charges stem from an investigation by
the Clay County Sheriff's Office; when Baethke lost control of his vehicle and
entered the ditch on January 20. Baethke and Bubke were booked into the Clay
County Jail.

Arrest Charge: Driving While Barred
Details of Arrest: Upon the arrival and investigation of Clay County Deputies,
it was found that Kunath was traveling north in the 3900 mile of 225th Ave. and
swerved to miss an animal in the road and drove into the west ditch. Kunath then
drove north in the ditch and attempted to turn east toward the road, hit a
culvert and rolled west onto its side. Upon further investigation, it was found
Kunath had been drinking and also had a barred and suspended drivers license.
Kunath was placed under arrest and was transported to the Clay County Jail. Upon
arrival at the jail, Kunath performed field sobriety tests and was turned over
to the jail staff for booking, charged with Driving While Barred, O.W.I. (2nd),
2 counts of Child Endangerment, all Aggravated Misdemeanors, and Driving Under
Suspension and Failure to File S.R. Insurance, both Simple Misdemeanors.

consuming alcoholic beverages. Upon further investigation, it was determined
Mccollough had been operating while intoxicated. Mccollough was placed under
arrest and was transported to the Clay County Jail w/o incident. Mccollough was

ACCIDENT DETAILS
Unit 1 was
stopped at the stop sign facing east on Clay County road B-24 at the
intersection with Clay County road M-50. Unit 2 was traveling south in the 3400
mile of Clay County road M-50 and was approaching the intersection with Clay
County road B-24. Unit 1 failed to yeld from the stop sign and attempted to turn
north onto Clay County road M-50. Unit 2 attempted to slow to avoid a collison
with unit 1 but hit the rear drivers side quarter panel with its driver side
front end.

traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation and upon investigation, it was
found that the front male passenger, Kenneth Schoning, had two warrants for his
arrest for the original charges of Burglary (3rd) with a cash or surety bond of
$19,500.00. Upon confirmation of the warrants, Schoning was placed under arrest
and was transported to the Clay County Jail w/o incident. Schoning was later

Fourth Degree and Reckless Driving Details of Arrest: On December 30 at
approximately 10:24pm, the Clay County Sheriff's Office received a call from a
resident in Greenville who observed a vehicle hit a trash can. The caller gave
the vehicle plate number and a Clay County Deputy located the vehicle a short
time later. Upon investigation two juvenile males from Spencer were arrested for
criminal mischief fourth degree and reckless driving. This ended a prior
investigation by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office into similar vandalism
incidents in Greenville. A total of eleven trash cans were reported hit or
damaged in Greenville in the past week. Damaged is estimated at $500. Deputies # 21-5 Date:

Details of Arrest: On 12-28-11
the Spencer Police Department received a call from Shine Corp. of several
individuals trying to sell stolen property. The Spencer Police Department
arrested Earlywine and Covey at that time for possession of stolen property from
a business in Sac County. The Sac County Sheriffs Office issued warrants for
Earlywine and Covey on 12-30-11. Covey and Earlywine where still in the Clay
County Jail, so they were additionally held on a $10,000 bond each for the new

Details of Arrest: On
12-28-11 at approximately 19:29 hours the Clay County Sheriffs Office received a
911 hang up call from 3530 240th Ave, Upon call back the 911 dispatcher spoke
with a Sarah Kehoe who advised she needed officers at her residence. Deputies
arrived and spoke with Kehoe, who now said she did not need officer’s help.
Spencer Officers who assisted on the call advised Deputies a male subject had
ran out of the house prior to their arrival. Kehoe identified the male subject
who fled, as her boyfriend Shawn Pattison. Pattison was located a short time
later in a field to the east of the residence.
During the investigation
Deputies learned that both Kehoe and Pattison had been in a physical altercation
with each other. Both subject were arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail.
Pattison was charged with a 3rd offense domestic assault, a class D felony.
Kehoe was charged with 1st offense domestic assault a serious misdemeanor. Both

The Clay County Sheriffs
Office received a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch in the 2800 mile of 190th
Ave. A Clay County Deputy was investigating the accident at approximately 10:00
AM when the owner of the vehicle showed up. The driver/owner was identified as
Karl Fremel of Lake Park. Freml told the Deputy he was driving north bound at
approximately 09:00 AM and swerved to miss a deer that ran out in front of him.
He lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into the ditch. Freml said he had
an appointment in Spencer and did not want to miss it, so he left the truck.

when he left the roadway and struck the railroad signal arm before his truck
hung up on the railroad tracks causing disabling damage to his vehilce. Peterson

and he told the Deputy that he was given a ride to the location in reference to
his broken down vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was found that Aeilts
lied to the Deputy and that he had driven the vehicle w/o a drivers license and
he had broken down. Aeilts was placed under arrest and was transported to the
Clay County Jail w/o incident. Aeilts was charged with Interference w/ Official
Acts, Failure to Have a Valid Drivers License, No Proof of Insurance, and for
Harassment, all Simple Misdemeanors.
